History MADE! Takoma Park, Maryland Lowers its Voting Age to 16!

It was a day so many of us have long awaited.  After years of growth and developments, the youth suffrage movement has its first genuine VICTORY!  Last Monday, by a vote of 6-1, the  Takoma Park, Maryland City Council lowered the city’s voting  age to 16.  While this only applies to local elections, it was a monumental achievement.

It’s time to celebrate and begin the work ahead to spread a lower voting age to other cities (and eventually states) across the country!  To read more about what happened in Takoma Park, go to http://www.gazette.net/article/20130516/NEWS/130519233/1124/takoma-park-might-not-be-last-city-to-grant-teens-right-to-vote&template=gazette
