It was a day so many of us have long awaited. After years of growth and developments, the youth suffrage movement has its first genuine VICTORY! Last Monday, by a vote of 6-1, the Takoma Park, Maryland City Council lowered the city’s voting age to 16. While this only applies to local elections, it was a monumental achievement.
It’s time to celebrate and begin the work ahead to spread a lower voting age to other cities (and eventually states) across the country!
